BJP’s prasad: Ready to contest from chamarajanagar
Bengaluru: Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader V. Srinivas Prasad has reportedly conveyed his willingness to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Chamarajanagar. However, the BJP state unit is in two minds on fielding him from the constituency which the Congress had won in 2014.
Mr Prasad reportedly met BJP state president, B.S. Yeddyurappa and said he was ready to don battlegear against his prodigy and sitting Congress MP, Dhruvanarayana in Chamarajanagar. Sources said Mr Srinivas Prasad also met south India organising secretary of the BJP, B.L. Santhosh and expressed his willingness to contest. Mr Prasad has explained to Mr Santhosh some issues pertaining to the facilities needed for the elections too.
While Mr Santhosh has assured him that he will discuss the matter with the party central leadership, Mr Yeddyurappa reportedly adopted a cold response to Mr Prasad's demand which upset the veteran leader, sources said adding that unlike the other probables for Chamarajanagar, Mr Prasad stands a good chance of swinging votes in his favour.
