‘Hung’ statement lands Komatireddy in trouble

Hyderabad: Taking a serious note of Komatireddy Venkat Reddy’s prediction of a “hung” Assembly after the state elections, AICC in charge Manickrao Thakre has decided to report the matter to the High Command.

The Maharashtra leader, who is on a two-day visit, met Reddy at the Old MLA quarters on Wednesday.

During the meeting which took place for about two hours, the MP claimed that the media presented his statement by ‘twisting’ the facts and also showed him the video clip which created a flutter.

“My statements were taken out of context, as I was only trying to stir up conscience so that the party is prepared for the next elections. We had a discussion on alliances and the issue of tickets, as in the past BRS had an edge over Congress in distributing tickets,” he said.

Later, Thakre reached Gandhi Bhavan to review the ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo’ campaign. During the meeting with PCC vice-presidents, the issue was raised by senior leaders.

“His statements will have wide repercussions. When you are taking out ‘Haath se Haath jodo’ campaign with the primary focus on elections, what will you tell the voters when they ask about this,” one of the leaders present in the meeting told ‘Deccan Chronicle’.

According to party sources, Thakre has decided to report the matter to the AICC High Command.

Meanwhile, AICC secretary, Bose Raju who was present during the morning meeting said that the MP had given a clarification, which was satisfactory.
