Sandra Venkata Veeraiah removed from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams board

Mr Veeraiah was part of the TTD earlier and is said to be well-versed with the rules.

TIRUPATI: The AP government has withdrawn the appointment of Telangana Telugu Desam legislator Sandra Venkata Veeraiah as member of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams trust board.

The Sathupalli legislator had not taken charge even two months after his appointment, amid rumours that he would be joining the Telangana Rashtra Samiti.

There was speculation that he would be inducted into the Cabinet by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. To preclude any possible embarrassment, it is learnt, the Chandrababu Naidu government terminated his appointment to the TTD board.

The notification released by the AP government terminating his appointment said the endowments department found that Mr Veeraiah had been violating the clause by not taking oath within 30 days after being nominated to the TTD trust board.

As per the AP Endowments Act 30 of 1987, a member who is nominated to the TTD trust board should take oath of office and secrecy within 30 days of his appointment. If anyone fails to do so, he ceases to exist as a trust board member, the notification said.

Mr Veeraiah was part of the TTD earlier and is said to be well-versed with the rules. Despite this, he stayed way and this led to the termination of his appointment, sources said.
