Khammam: The first visit of K. Chandrasekhar Rao as Chief Minister to Khammam turned into an election campaign for the Khammam Municipal Corporation, which will be held in the first week of March.

During his whirlwind tour, Mr Rao visited 10 areas including BC Colony, Ramanagutta, Srinvasanagar, Prakashnagar, Sundaraiahnagar, Lambadathanda, Khammam Qila and Venkatagiri Road.

He interacted with people, particularly women, and enquired about their problems. Almost all residents demanded double bedroom houses, and residents handed over hundreds of applications to the Chief Minister.

At BC Colony, Ms Dirisala Jyothi signalled the Chief Minister to stop and hear her problem. Mr Rao got down to speak with her. Because of a problem with her voice, he could not understand what she was saying. Mr Rao asked a bystander, Mr Somav-arapu Satyanarayana, to bring her to the NSP Guest House where he stayed so that he could speak with her at leisure.

In Khammam Qila, he interacted with minorities near a masjid. “The TRS government is ready to provide self-employment to minority youth by providing loans to them through the minority development corporation. The elders should guide the youth to utilise the scheme.” he said.

In Srinivasanagar, he said that the government was ready to build 4,000 double bedroom houses for the poor. “I will direct the revenue officials to collect the list of beneficiaries,” he told the women in the area.

The Chief Minister ordered the shifting of the dump yard at BC Colony and asked the officials to plan the place for the construction of double bedroom houses.

He inaugurated a drinking water project in the area by turning on a tap in the locality. Meanwhile, the students led by PDSU showed placards demanding the government to release pending fee immediately.
