BJP MLAs wait for good times

The BJP state leadership has reportedly told party MLAs not to leave Delhi and Gurugram until further instructions from the party.

Bengaluru: All 104 BJP MLAs who are holed up in Delhi and Gurugram since the past two days, are eagerly waiting for the announcement by BJP state President B.S.Yeddyurappa on the formation of a new BJP government.

The BJP state leadership has reportedly told party MLAs not to leave Delhi and Gurugram until further instructions from the party. The MLAs staying at a resort at Gururgam told Deccan Chronicle that, not single MLA has been informed about the strategy of the party. They have access only to information which news channels are flashing with neither party senior leaders nor BJP State President B.S.Yeddyurappa addressing them about the next political move of the party.

The BJP MLAs also not sure about how many Congress MLAs are ready to resign from their Assembly membership. But they are sure that good news will come in a day or two.

However on Tuesday, BJP MLAs got clues that something was happening after witnessing the confidence levels of party strongman Mr Yeddyurappa. Sources in the party said that Mr. Yeddyurappa is likely to brief them once he gets the support of the required number of Congress MLAs and Independents to topple the government.

On Tuesday, there was speculation that 8 MLAs, —six from Congress and two Independents— have pledged their support to the BJP. After this, the mood in BJP camp has changed, sources said.

Party state and central leaders have issued a gag order to the MLAs and senior leaders not to share any information with the media about the BJPstrategy. Unlike in the past, this time, BJP State President Mr Yeddyurappa is personally monitoring the strategy.

A BJP MLA of a coastal district returned to Udupi to attend the wedding of his relative. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the MLA said, "The leadership told me to return to Delhi after attending the wedding. ”
