BJP will contest alone in Parliament elections in TS: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad: With the political alliance with the Jana Sena Party of actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan not having much impact in the recent Assembly elections, the Telangana BJP has decided to contest in ensuing Parliament elections alone in Telangana state.

Telangana state BJP chief and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy on Friday clarified the BJP stand at a party office-bearers meeting along with state BJP in-charge Tarun Chugh here on Friday.

Addressing the meeting, Kishan Reddy said, "All the leaders from the village level to Prime Minister Narendra Modi worked hard during the Assembly elections and improved the vote share of the BJP," Kishan Reddy said. There were now eight BJP legislators, he noted and added that in another 15 constituencies the party stood second.

He asked party leaders to maintain the tempo in the general elections next year and add to the tally of four MPs, he said. The BJP felt that the alliance did not work out in Telangana state after Jana Sena candidates lost their deposits.

Later, Chugh and Reddy interacted with the BJP leaders and analysed the strengths and weaknesses of BJP candidates contested in recent elections.
