KCR rewards three student leaders with nominated posts

KCR appointed chairpersons for three corporations of the state government for a tenure of two years with immediate effect

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday rewarded three student leaders who took an active part in Telangana statehood movement with corporation posts.

He appointed chairpersons for three corporations of the state government for a tenure of two years with immediate effect.

Manne Krishank was appointed as chairman of Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation Ltd; Errolla Srinivas as chairman of Telangana State Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation while
Veeda Saichander is the new chairman of Telangana State Warehousing Corporation.

With this, Rao has addressed the criticism that he had neglected those who actively took part in the statehood agitation.

The move is aimed to check migration of disgruntled party leaders, who have been complaining about not getting adequate recognition in the party despite working for it since its inception.

Many of them eyed MLA, MLC seats but the party could not give them tickets due to political and caste equations. Such leaders were assured of nominated posts in the government and party, which are pending since 2018.

With the BJP and Congress stepping up activities in the state and trying to lure disgruntled TRS leaders into their field, the pink party chief is trying to keep the flock together by giving them nominated posts.

Osmania University student leader and Telangana Congress spokesperson Krishank quit Congress and joined TRS in March 2019 and has been awaiting a nominated post ever since. Another OU student leader Errolla Srinivas was made chairman of Telangana SC, ST Commission in January 2018. However, his tenure ended in 2020.

Folk singer V. Saichander, who played a key role during the movement with his folk songs, has been awaiting a nominated post for a long time. He was confirmed a MLC ticket under local bodies’ quota from Mahabubnagar district recently but Rao denied him a ticket at the last minute due to local political considerations. He was upset at this and reports of Saichand quitting TRS in protest made the political rounds. Opposition parties openly invited him to join them. Against this backdrop, he was pacified with a nominated post on Wednesday.
