TD MLA resigns, restriction in state Assembly premises
VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam MLA of Madakasira of Anantapur district Mr Masala Eranna resigned from his MLA post on Friday. The High Court had disqualified Mr Eranna in its recent verdict. Mr Eranna came to Amaravati on Friday to meet AP Legislative Assembly Speaker Mr K. Sivaprasada Rao but as he was not available, Mr Eranna submitted his resignation to the officials at the Speaker’s office.
Earlier YSR Congress candidate Mr M. Tippe Swamy who lost the 2014 election at the hands of Mr Eranna had filed a petition in the High Court on June 28, 2014 challenging the election of Mr Eranna.
Mr Swamy had alleged that Mr Eranna had filed a false affidavit and hidden the fact that his wife had a government job and had police cases registered against her. The High Court in its verdict disqualified Mr Eranna. Hence he came to the Assembly and submitted his resignation.
Meanwhile, an altercation resulted between a section of the media and Mr Eranna while he was returning from Assembly and it created a ruckus for some time.
In view of the ruckus, AP Assembly Legislative Assembly Speaker Mr K. Sivaprasada Rao put a restriction on the entry of officials and staff from the Secretariat entrance. According to the new order, employees and officials could come to the Assembly through gate number 2 only and entry to others would be given through registration of names with Aadhaar proof.
Further restrictions were imposed over the conducting of press meeting in the Assembly premises by MLAs.
