Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy sends report to Sonia Gandhi on party defeat

Mr Reddy and the party's star campaigner Vijayashanti had opposed the alliance with the Telugu Desam.

Hyderabad: Congress leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Friday met UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and urged her to reorganise the party leadership in TS.

Mr Reddy also submitted a report to Ms Gandhi, which said the failure to tap the Telangana sentiment ruined party’s prospects in the Assembly elections, while the alliance with Telugu Desam played spoilsport at the grass-root level.

He urged Ms Gandhi to implement the reforms in the state leadership of the party immediately so that it could fare better in the upcoming the panchayat elections as well as the Lok Sabha elections that will follow.

Mr Reddy and the party’s star campaigner Vijaya-shanti had opposed the alliance with the Telugu Desam. The duo had warned AICC president Rahul Gandhi about the possible repercussions of undermining the Telangana sentiment by joining hands with the TD.

Mr Reddy is scheduled to meet AICC president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Saturday and it is learnt that he will submitt a report on the failure of the party’s state leadership regarding the loss in the Assembly elections.
