Will come into picture if BJP fails in numbers game: HD Kumaraswamy

We have been asking the government to announce compensation above NDRF norms for flood victims: HD Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru: Former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy, who released a list of 11 JD(S) candidates for the December bypolls, admitted on Thursday that his party “would come into picture” if BJP did not win the required number of seats for the survival of its government.

While on the one hand, he claimed the party was committed neither to the BJP nor the Congress, on the other, he said, “If BJP wins seven seats, CM B.S. Yediyurappa will continue. If not, we will come into picture.”

Speaking to reporters, Mr Kumaraswamy said, “We have been asking the government to announce compensation above NDRF norms for flood victims. Now people should think and vote if they want to continue with a government that has not come to their rescue. It depends on that.” He said although the former party MLAs, who had deserted it to bring down his government, were now sending feelers seeking its support in the constituencies they were contesting from, JD(S) would work out a strategy to defeat them all.

Scoffing at disqualified MLA, Dr Sudhakar, who is reportedly interested in meeting him to seek his support in the bypoll, he said he was the root cause of the coalition government's collapse. “Even C.P. Yogeshwar, who played a major role in bringing down the government, is sending feelers for support in Hunsur. But the party has decided to ensure that all the defectors are defeated,” he asserted.
