Krishna Reddy helping land sharks: BJP
BENGALURU: BJP leader N R Ramesh has demanded a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probe against the incumbent Deputy Speaker of Legislative Assembly Krishna Reddy.
Mr Ramesh alleged that Krishna Reddy, who is also the chairman of the petition’s committee, is threatening honest officers and helping land sharks who are trying to swallow Rs 300 crore worth of BBMP property reserved for parks in the city. In spite of being threatened, the government officers are doing their best to save the government property, he added.
Mr. Krishna Reddy, who is a MLA representing Chintamani of Kolar district is supporting the land sharks who are doing everything to gobble up 4.31 acres of land, Ramesh charged.
The case
The government had given consent for forming a new layout in Banagiri Nagar near Katriguppe in Banashankari 1 Phase and had allotted 20 acres of land. Of this 20-acre land, 1,87,459 square feet or 4.31 acres of land was reserved for parks. Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) had handed over the property to BBMP in 2002.
Between 2002 to 2008, as many as 62 land grabbers tried to encroach the land reserved for parks by creating fake documents. The corrupt officers in the revenue department of Banashankari sub-division gave khatas illegally to these land sharks, Ramesh charged. However, ownership related RTC’s are held in the name of BDA till date, he underlines. When land encroachers began constructing buildings in the area reserved for parks by showing illegally done khatas, the officers of South Zone Planning department lodged a complaint with Channammanakere Achukattu police station. They also fenced properties which are being encroached, Ramesh explains.
The BBMP officers are getting threatening calls from land encroachers as the latter are pressurising the officers that they have obtained the court order for construction. “They have not obtained any court orders relating to the said land,” Ramesh underlined. After the case was lodged against the land grabbers with the police, they took it to the Petition’s Committee which is headed by Deputy Speaker Krishna Reddy who is pressurising the officers to withdraw the complaints from BMTF and Channammanakere Achukattu police station against the offices of Joint Commissioner and Planning department (South).
“He is also demanding the officers to hand over the land reserved for park to the land sharks,” Ramesh alleged.
The BBMP officers have managed to develop a park in one of the plot eyed by the land sharks in spite of the threats.
