Nizamabad: The BJP is planning to extend its base in the municipalities as elections are fast-approaching. The party leadership is conducting a series of meetings with senior leaders and cadres of municipal towns in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts.
BJP leadership believes that they will be the main opposition for the ruling TRS party in the municipal elections in the state.
BJP Assembly constituency in-charges and other office bearers are preparing strategies to win the majority of wards and divisions in urban local bodies.
Elections will be conducted in Nizamabad Municipal Corporation, Bodhan, Kamareddy, Armoor, Banswada, Bheemgal and Yellareddy municipalities in both districts. In view of this, the saffron party is planning to contest in all municipal wards and divisions. Based on reservations, the candidates will be finalised in all municipalities soon.
Following the directives of the state committee, several BJP leaders are conducting cluster-level meetings to finalise the strategies for municipal elections. Nizamabad MP, Dharmapuri, Arvind, state office-bearers and district committee presidents of Nizamabad and Kamareddy will take the responsibility of municipal elections.
Earlier, BJP won the Nizamabad municipality twice, its leaders Mukka Devender Gupta from 1995-2000 and Dr P. Bharathi Rani for 2000-2005 served as municipal chairpersons.
