Thiruvananthapuram: The politburo commission looking into state CPM's internal issues is believed to have decided not to recommend any action against veteran leader V.S. Achuthanandan. The report which is likely to be placed before politburo on Tuesday, almost three and half years after the commission was constituted, will lay emphasis on strengthening the party in the wake of present challenges. The PB commission is not in favour of any disciplinary action against the veteran leader on two counts; firstly, the issues taken up by the commission were old-not quite relevant today.
Secondly, the commission is keen to uphold the spirit of the party congress directive to ensure unity in the party. Moreover, the veteran leader had played a crucial role in installing the LDF government. The commission is believed to have asked Achuthanandan and state leadership to work together to strengthen the organisation. The six member PB commission was constituted to look into the organizational issues referred by the Kerala unit, after the politburo and central committee meetings on May 13,2013.
The six-member panel consisted of Prakash Karat, S Ramachandran Pillai, Sitaram Yechury, Nirupam Sen, B V Raghavulu and A K Padmanabhan. The panel was appointed following allegations and counter-allegations levelled by the state leadership and Achuthanandan against each other. The state committee had accused Achuthanandan of repeatedly violating party discipline, raising allegations of corruption against Pinarayi in the SNC Lavalin in violation of party stand and skipping crucial party meetings.
