BJP MP triggers row, seeks Dalit quota in national cricket team

BJP MP Udit Raj drew parallel to the law enacted by South Africa that at least five players of colour should be part of its cricket team.

New Delhi: BJP MP Udit Raj on Tuesday demanded reservation for Dalits in sports, including in the national cricket team.

"We demand Dalit reservation in all sports!" the Dalit leader said in a tweet.

He said Dalits have been talking about their representation in the Indian cricket team following a law enacted by South Africa that at least five players of colour should be part of its cricket team.

Raj represents North West Delhi in the Lok Sabha and also heads an outfit working for the cause of Dalits.
