Hyderabad: Mahbubnagar superintendent of police (SP) Harshvardhan, who took charge on Sunday, directed police officials to implement the model code of conduct strictly. He was speaking at a review meeting with senior police officers.
"We have to take measures to ensure free and fair elections. We have communicated detailed instructions to be followed as per the ECI guidelines with special focus on the sensitive, critical areas," the SP said.
Deputy inspector-General L.S. Chowhan asked policemen to be vigilant and take measures to prevent untoward incidents. He said the police would take legal steps against trouble-mongers, establish adequate surveillance on the flow of money, liquor, valuables and other items which may cause any temptation to the voters on the occasion of elections, conduct extensive inspections/raids and take appropriate action against offenders.
