Venue of Rahul Gandhi's Oct. 20 meet shifted to Bhainsa

Sources said this was done because of the differences between the Lambada and Adivasis.

Adialbad,Hyderabad: The venue of Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s public meeting on October 20 has been changed from Neredigonda in Boath constituency to Bhainsa in Mudhole.

Sources said this was done because of the differences between the Lambada and Adivasis. The Adivasis have been agitating for the removal of Lambadas from the Scheduled Tribes list.

A section of Congress leaders opposed Neredigo-nda as the venue and suggested Ichoda. The high command instead choose Bhainsa, as it wanted to avoid a rift between Adivasi and Lambada leaders within the party.

Incidentally, Bhainsa is just 35 km from Nirmal constituency, where Mr Rahul Gandhi held his Kishan Sandesh yatra in 2015

Top leaders Ponnam Prabhakar, Aleti Mahesh-war Reddy, Bosu Raju and Sreenivas Krishnan had visited Naredigonda and Ichoda and almost decided of the former, on October 12. DCC president Aleti Maheshwar Reddy wanted to conduct the meeting at Neredigonda, the native place of Mr Anil Jadhav who had lost the poll in 2014. He is trying for a ticket for Mr Jadhav from Boath against Adivasi leader Soyam Bapurao.

In Hyderabad, the TPCC core committee discussed the arrangements for Mr Rahul Gandhi’s visit on October 20. He will address a meeting of the Rajiv Gandhi Sadhbhavana Yatra at Charminar and then continue to Bhainsa in Adilabad district and Kamareddy to address public meetings. The party also put off its campaign to look after the arrangements for Mr Rahul Gandhi’s tour.

According to the schedule now, Mr Rahul Gandhi will arrive in Hyderabad at 10.30 am, and attend the Rajiv Sadbhavana Yatra at Charimar at 11 am. He will address a public meeting at Bhainsa, Adilabad district, between 2.45 pm and 4 pm. The Kamareddy meeting is scheduled between 4.45 pm and 6.15 pm. He will reach Hyderabad at 8 pm and leave for Delhi.
