Cong combine is doomed' alliance: Tamilisai Soundararajan

Kamal Haasan should stop campaigning in colleges.

Chennai: BJP state president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan ridiculed actor-politician Kamal Haasan who sought an electoral alliance with the Congress, saying it was immaterial who sailed along with the Congress, as that party is bound to be defeated by the BJP again.

“It does not matter who is with the Congress — the DMK or Kamal Haasan. The Congress combine is a doomed alliance because it will anyway be defeated (in the Lok Sabha election) by the BJP again,” Tamilisai said on Sunday.

The Congress-led UPA government had faced a humiliating defeat in the hands of the Narendra Modi-led BJP during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

While speaking against the DMK for the first time, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) president Kamal Haasan, floated his party earlier this year, told a Tamil news channel that his party is ready for an alliance with the Congress if it parts ways with DMK for the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Recently, he was snubbed by the DMK and allies when they decided not to attend the all-party meeting proposed by him on the Cauvery issue.

“If DMK-Congress alliance breaks, I would be ready to join hands with Congress in the 2019 elections. I need to have a word with Congress to make sure our alliance would benefit the people of Tamil Nadu,” he had said.

Speaking to reporters at Manali here on Sunday the BJP president asked the veteran actor to have some concern for the well-being of the students and stop campaigning on college premises. Though there were several issues
affecting the people, actors idle away their time criticising politicians. This selective targeting of politicians is unacceptable, she said.
