No point in repairing cycle, says Rahul Gandhi
Lucknow: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi took a dig at the on-going tussle in the Samajwadi Party and the Yadav family on Wednesday and said, “The cycle (SP symbol) is already punctured and now Akhileshji is trying to repair it, but it is too late now”.
Mr Gandhi, who resumed his Kisan Yatra on Wednesday from Mirzapur after a two-day break, said that the Akhilesh government had not taken corrective steps during the past four and a half years but now that elections were round the corner. The chief minister was trying to set his house in order.
Mr Gandhi said that the people of Uttar Pradesh had suffered enough during the past four and a half years and would not forget things in a hurry.
“The farmers have suffered due to inclement weather. The Bundel-khand region has suffered the most and farmers have not received due compensation. Women are insecure and children are not getting proper educational facilities. This government will have to do a lot of explaining in the elections,” the Congress vice-president said.
