Nirmala Seetharaman's words on TN industries prove our charges: Duraimurugan

Duraimurugan said whenever the DMK made such allegations, industries minister M.C. Sampath and other ministers countered the charges.

Chennai: Citing the speech of Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Seetharaman, urging the state government to take action to stop the movement of industries from Tamil Nadu to other states, DMK principal secretary K. Duraimurugan on Monday said her statement only proved the charges his party was making.

He recalled that Stalin and he had pointed out in the Assembly that the industries were facing a crisis and new entrepreneurs were not coming to the state. Even the existing industries were moving to states like Andhra Pradesh, the DMK had alleged.

Duraimurugan said whenever the DMK made such allegations, industries minister M.C. Sampath and other ministers countered the charges. They had asserted that none of the industries had gone out from Tamil Nadu and stated that the state was progressing in the industrial field, he said. The voice of the victors was considered sacred and the ministers had denied every such report.

“However, the remarks of Nirmala Seetharaman, a minister from BJP, the guardian of the AIADMK is a slap on the face of the state government,” he said. She had said that despite the presence of skilful youth in Tamil Nadu, investors were not attracted to Tamil Nadu and investments that come in the direction of Tamil Nadu were moving to other states. She had asked the state “to analyse why industries are moving to other states and focus on manufacturing sector”.

The central minister's remarks had proved that DMK MLAs were speaking with the correct statistics in the Assembly, he said.
