Newcomers vow to install BJP government in Karnataka
Bengaluru: Senior leaders who crossed over to the Bharatiya Janata Party from the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) in the last one year, virtually took a vow before party national president Amit Shah to dislodge the Congress government and install a BJP government in Karnataka.
Over 20 leaders including S.M. Krishna, Kumar Bangarappa, Jayaprakash Hegde and Pramod Hegde not only met Mr Shah but also expressed their views. Mr Krishna who initiated the discussion, sent across a message on behalf of other leaders present in the meeting.
“We have to install a Bharatiya Janata Party government in Karnataka. In my opinion, the incumbent government is the most corrupt and most ineffective. If we assure people that we will provide a clean and corruption-free government, people will accept us. Those of us assembled here promise you that we will dethrone the Congress government,” he said.
Mr Krishna said that he had travelled across the world where he found that people were praising the Narendra Modi government. Kumar Bangarappa too said that leaders should come together to dethrone the incumbent government.
Former JD(S) leader Shivanna appreciated the Vistaraka programme launched by the Modi government while another leader, Pramod Hegde said the party had given him respect in a short span of time.
The leaders felt that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who seemed to be insecure about his future, was raising emotional issues which might divide society which was all the more reason why the Bharatiya Janata Party should take up farmers' issues.
