Differences among BRS MLAs over creation of new mandal

ADILABAD: Groupism has been accentuated in BRS in the Boath assembly constituency as the party's MLAs responded differently over the creation of a new mandal Sonala in this district and some leaders started claiming credit.

The differences came to the fore during a programme organised by the ruling party the other day to celebrate the formation of the mandal. Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna alleged that the new mandal came into being despite attempts by some leaders to stall it.

Local MLA Rathod Bapurao was not present at the celebrations and Jogu Ramanna indirectly referred to Bapurao in his speech. Subsequently, Bapurao lodged a complaint with the party high command against Ramanna. The party's high command sought an explanation from Ramanna.

A few days later, Ramanna met the municipal administration Rama Rao and gave his version. KTR reportedly advised Ramanna to avoid controversies that could affect the winning prospects of the BRS candidates in the coming elections.

Senior BRS leader K Srinivas of Boath said two groups are active in the BRS in the constituency and it was only that the creation of the Sonala mandal brought this out in the open.

MLA Bapurao and former Adilabad MP Godam Nagesh are leading these groups as both are expecting party tickets for the assembly polls. One wants to undercut the other’s chances. Party cadre and second-rung leaders are polarised behind these two leaders and making allegations against each other.
