Naidu launches One Lakh Votes Majority' campaign in Kuppam

KUPPAM: Telugu Desam president Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday launched the ‘One lakh votes majority’ campaign in his home constituency of Kuppam in Chittoor district. The aim is to secure a majority of one lakh votes for the TD nominee in the Assembly polls in Kuppam.

Naidu has represented this constituency for seven consecutive terms since 1989.

Addressing a public meeting, Naidu expressed his gratitude to the people of Kuppam for their unwavering support to the TD. He called upon the voters and party cadres to aim for a one-lakh votes majority, and promised significant development in Kuppam if and when the TD returned to power. Highlighting the significance of Kuppam and Hindupur, the only two constituencies in AP where the TD has secured victory in nine consecutive elections, the TD chief commended the commitment of the people in these constituencies to the Telugu Desam.

Criticising the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government, Naidu alleged that the entire state had been adversely affected under the YSRC rule since 2019. “But, the days of YSRC's rule are numbered,” he said.

The TD chief outlined the welfare measures planned by the TD in its new manifesto.

Meanwhile, on the second day of his three-day Kuppam tour, Naidu inducted several persons into the TD, including former Congress district unit president Suresh Babu and some YSRC activists. He urged all party members to work together for the TD's success in the upcoming polls.

Naidu emphasised the TD's track record in creating and distributing assets for the benefit of the people. He cited successful initiatives such as the '2-a-kg rice scheme, pucca houses, and Janatha clothes etc that improved the lives of the people. He said he would uplift the poor and implement schemes such as Deepam (providing gas cylinders), free bus travel for women and a monthly payment of '1,500 for women aged between 18 and 59.

Addressing the issue of rising lawlessness in Kuppam and other parts of the state, Naidu warned rowdies of severe consequences. He highlighted the TD's history of curbing crime and extremism. He also pledged to complete the remaining works of the Handri-Neeva project, which had been “neglected” by the present state government.
