Hyderabad: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, voiced serious concerns about the dire situation in Telangana state under the nine-year rule of the BRS government.
He said various segments of society, including farmers, unemployed individuals, students, and marginalised communities, have lost hope for a brighter future. Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted the fear and repression faced by marginalised communities, including Dalits and tribals, who were once hopeful. He criticised the government's actions of reclaiming lands from poor farmers and forcefully evicting tribals from their podu lands through Dharani portal.
During his address in Kanagallu, Nalgonda district, the CLP leader expressed appreciated the warm reception and recognised the prevailing sense of despair among the people. He highlighted the unfulfilled promises of jobs for the youth, the halted construction of affordable housing for the underprivileged, and the non-payment of wages under the employment guarantee scheme. Bhatti Vikramarka underscored the anticipation among the people for the Congress' comeback to power.
He said students who set aside their studies to participate in the Telangana movementare finding themselves unemployed within their own state.
Even individuals with postgraduate qualifications are struggling to sustain themselves by ironing clothes.
The CLP leader underscored that the situation in Nalgonda district, where he has been conducting his padayatra (foot march), is no different.
The BRS government's inability to complete the remaining 3 km of the SLBC tunnel, which could have facilitated irrigation across 3.5 lakh acres of land in the district, was criticised. Bhatti Vikramarka called out minister Jagadish Reddy and MLC and Legislative Council chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, who represent Nalgonda district, for mocking his appearance when questioned about this matter.
Outlining the Congress' commitments, Bhatti Vikramarka pledged to allocate Rs 5 lakh for the construction of affordable double bed room houses, sell cooking gas cylinders for RS 500, ensure the distribution of nine essential commodities through fair price shops, provide Rs 12,000 to every landless poor family, and implement a comprehensive loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh. He also reaffirmed that a Congress government would prioritise the completion of the SLBC tunnel, alongside other irrigation projects on the Krishna River, guaranteeing water supply and fostering development in Nalgonda district.
