Congress to KCR: Take up bifurcation vows with PM Narendra Modi
Hyderabad: Congress leaders Mohammad Shabbir Ali and Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Thursday alleged that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre was cheating the people of the Telugu states. They demanded that the Centre implement the assurances given to TS and AP during bifurcation.
Shabbir Ali, Opposition leader in the Council, alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was not taking interest in pressuring the Centre to implement the assurances. “KCR is thinking that Pragathi Bhavan (CM’s official residence) is the whole world, He should protect the rights of the state,” he said.
He suggested that Mr Rao ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who he is likely to meet on Friday, about the implementation of assurances given to the state.
He said Mr Rao should get 12 per cent reservation to Muslims announced by Mr Modi as an Id-ul-Fitr gift or apologise to the community.
Regarding Bayyaram steel plant, he said, “What the previous government (UPA) assured, the NDA government says it is not possible. It said this only after we went to court.”
Mr Reddy asked Mr Rao about his “secret agenda” with the Centre. He asked why Mr Rao was not bringing pressure on the Centre.
