YSRC all set for massive door-to-door campaign in AP

Reddy said YSRC party activists would visit each and every home in the state and also hold village-level meetings in the next five months.

Hyderabad: AP Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday said that a massive door-to-door campaign of the party, called Gadapa Gadapaki YSR would be launched to reach the masses in Andhra Pradesh.

After declaring the programme at Vijayawada on Tuesday, Mr Reddy said YSRC party activists would visit each and every home in the state and also hold village-level meetings in the next five months. The programme would begin on July 8, the birth anniversary of Late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

During the door-to-door campaign, YSRC party activists would conduct a survey to rate the performance of the Telugu Desam government on a scale of 0 to 100. The party workers have also been asked to explain to the public the false promises of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. YSRC will also form booth level committees for the same.

Speaking at the state-level meet, Mr Reddy asked partymen not to worry about defections of MLAs to Telugu Desam. Recalling the vote difference between the TD and the YSRC in 2014 polls, which was only 5 lakh, he called upon the constituency in-charges and MLA ticket aspirants to work hard and reach out to the people.

Mr Reddy also criticised the state government for its handling of Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham during the latter’s fast. “Mudragada was only asking the TD to fulfill its poll promise of giving reservations to the Kapus. Is that a crime? Andhra Pradesh is witnessing police terrorism,” he said, reminding the police department that it was not accountable to a political party, but to the people.
