He said that people of AP believe that the SCS will develop the residuary state, hence the TD is putting all efforts to get it.

Amaravati: Former minister and TD state spokesperson Dokka Manikyavaraprasad Rao said that TD will continue fight for Special Category Status to AP by continuing alliance with the BJP.

He said that people of AP believe that the SCS will develop the residuary state, hence the TD is putting all efforts to get it. Addressing a press meet at Guntur on Saturday, Mr Rao claimed that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu insisted on Prime Minister Narendra Modi about announcing SCS to AP from the beginning, but the Opposition parties are trying to misled the public on this issue.

Mr Rao said that the public are trusting SCS would develop AP swiftly and they are not caring about the limitations of the Union government and problems of the BJP to offer SCS to AP. He affirmed that the TD is making arduous efforts and pressuring the BJP government in all possible manner for the SCS and said that they will continue the fight till the last.

Mentioning about the starting of new irrigation projects on Krishna river, he opined that already old irrigations projects were under construction on the Krishna river. Hence, the new projects should not be started till completion of the old projects.

He claimed that the permission of Apex Council is a must for new projects and asked the Telangana government not to harm farmers of AP by stopping water supply through new projects in Telangana on Krishna river.

Mentioning about the Deeksha protest of YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy seeking SCS, Mr Rao said that SCS is a sensitive issue, but the YSRC was trying to provoke the public which would not help AP to get the SCS.
