I see emotion has no place in democracy: Suresh Gopi
Thrissur: In the Sabrimala issue I spoke my heart out and it was intended to touch the emotions of the voter. But, later I came to know that in the democratic process, at present, there was no space for original emotions and I am now convincing myself not to be emotional about the issue,” NDA candidate in Thrissur segment Suresh Gopi has said. Mr Gopi further said that time would come when such emotions would find its space in democracy.
He was speaking to media persons after a cake cutting ceremony organised by his fans at St Joseph Old Age Home at Pulazhi here on Sunday in view of the 25 anniversary of his blockbuster movie Commissioner.
The actor will offer pra-yers at Guruvayur Lord Sree Krishna Temple on Monday, the Vishu day.
His campaign in-charge and BJP leader K.P. Sreesan said that the first round campaign across all seven assembly segments in Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency had been completed and in the second round, half a day would be spend in each assembly constituency, he added.
“It is a neck and neck race in Thrissur and it is a triangular fight. We are expecting voters, especially women, to cut across political and religious lines to vote for the actor,” Mr Sreesan said.
