Cash flowing in police vans to Mandya: BS Yeddyurappa

They are spending Rs 150 crores in total there (Mandya).

Mysuru: BJP State President B.S. Yeddyurappa has made a sensational allegation that the JD(S) is transferring money in police vans for distribution prior to the polls with Rs 5 lakh earmarked for each polling booth in Mandya Lok Sabha constituency where the CM’ son Nikhil Kumaraswamy is facing a tough challenge from Independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh.

“They are spending Rs 150 crores in total there (Mandya). Local contractors are providing this money. I will be lodging a complaint in this regard with the Election Commission which should investigate the matter,” he said while speaking to media persons at Kollegal on Sunday.

The BJP leader said, "the JD(S) is conspiring to prevent the victory of Ms Sumalatha whom we are supporting. Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy is conspiring to save his CM position."

On JD(S) supremo Mr H.D. Deve Gowda's statement that the BJP will not cross single digits in its seat tally in Karnataka, he said, "Let Mr Deve Gowda and his grandsons win first, they can then speak about the BJP."

The former CM offered prayers at Mahadeswara Swamy temple at Male Mahadeswara Hills and said that he had prayed for the BJP’s victory in 300 seats. Mr Yeddyurappa also campaigned for Chamamrajnagar BJP candidate Mr V Srinivasprasad in all eight assembly seats of the constituency.

At a meeting of BJP leaders in Mysuru, Mr Yeddyurappa said, "Mr Kumaraswamy thinks he can win this election using money and power which is not possible. There is a conspiracy to divide the Veerashaiva Lingayat community."

Meanwhile at a public meeting in Chamarajanagar Mr V Srinivasprasad said that the Constitution is not a school textbook to be changed, it can only be amended and the amendments only add to its virtue. He appealed to voters to elect him and make the election memorable for him. On PWD Minister Mr H.D. Revanna’s declaration that he would retire from politics if Modi becomes Prime Minister again, Mr Srinivasprasad quipped, “Your father(Deve Gowda) said the same thing during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, did he do it?”
