Anam family up in arms against TD for raw deal
Nellore: The Anam family, which is one of the popular political groups in the district, is up in arms against the Telugu Desam because of its failure to fulfil the promises made at the time of joining the party.
Though he was in Hyderabad, former finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy was absent when the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu came to see his brother at the hospital in Hyderabad where he is admitted due to serious illness.
The family is aware of the visit of the CM because the security personnel scanned the hospital before they left the hospital for lunch on Thursday afternoon.
It was learnt that ministers from Nellore, P. Narayana and Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy discussed on the phone with Ramanarayana Reddy over the posting of an officer to Atmakur constituency on Thursday morning but they did not tell him about the visit of CM.
They dd not call Ramanarayana Reddy after the visit of the CM though both of them accompanied the CM to the hospital, sources in the family alleged.
The family feels that Vivekananda Reddy’s health deteriorated because he was hurt over TD ignoring them after wooing into the party fold by offering some posts including membership in the Legislative Council to Vivekananda.
“Some senior TD leaders and a media baron close to our family told us that TD chief Chandrababu Naidu is inviting us into the party fold and they prevailed upon us to join TD,” a member of the family told this newspaper.
He said that Vivekananda Reddy and Ramanarayana Reddy approached the CM after noticing that only Governor quota was left with regard to MLC post but the CM expressed his inability citing political pressures but assured to consider next time. “We do not know what he meant by next time with only one year left for the Assembly elections” the family member said sarcastically.
He struck down reports in vernacular dailies over their plans to leave TD and join YSR Congress. “No party invited us and we are not after any party as of now,” he asserted.
It may be mentioned here that the youngest brother of Vivekananda Reddy, Vijayakumar Reddy is in YSR Congress and the one before him, Jayakumar Reddy joined TD long before elder brothers Viveka and Ramanarayana embraced TD.
In fact the last two brothers are not on good terms with elders since last five years because of some family issues. But the hospitalisation of Vivekananda Reddy brought all of them together.
Sources in the family said Ramanarayana Reddy recent advice to all the family members to remain united henceforth in all issues including politics has gone down well but they are not discussing politics now because of the serious health condition of Vivekananda Reddy.
