Hyderabad: TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy denied reports in a section of the media that he had criticised senior party leaders and said that many of his statements during his padayatra in the Balkonda constituency were twisted out of context.
Revanth Reddy slammed the media reports in vernacular dailies, stating that they had inaccurately portrayed him saying that senior leaders were a sold-out commodity, which he had never said.
"One newspaper falsely reported that I said that senior leaders were sold out to the BRS. I didn't say anything about seniors. It is incorrect to write something that I never said. The media should exercise restraint. I strongly condemn this type of misleading and inaccurate news. Problems should not be made more complex by inciting political controversies," he stated.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leaders from the Reddy community criticised Revanth Reddy's controversial remarks and demanded that he apologise if he made such statements. “Such statements are controversial, and the TPCC president must apologise,” stated a senior party leader on condition of anonymity.
Revanth Reddy was smart, according to a senior Congress leader and former MLA, because these statements were made off the record during a chat with the media. "Now that he has denied making such statements, this controversy should end here,” the leader continued, declining to be quoted.
Former MLA N. Padmavathi Reddy, the wife of Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy, was recently spotted with the BRS women leaders, and rumours circulated that the family was inching closer to the BRS leadership.
Padmavathi denied meeting BRS women leaders on the way to New Delhi, referring to it as an accidental encounter at the Hyderabad airport. Padmavathi’s photographs with BRS ministers Satyavathi Rathod and Sabitha Indra Reddy went viral. Using this, some leaders of the Congress launched a targeted social media campaign against the couple.
