BDJS raises banner of revolt

Will sever ties if demands not met: Thushar ; To hold NDA ally meet in two weeks

Alappuzha: The Bharat Dharma Jana Sena has raised the banner of revolt against the BJP and warned that it will not cooperate with the saffron party in the Chengannur by-election if its demands were not met. The BDJS will convene a meeting of the NDA allies in the state within two weeks to decide their strategy in the by-election. This was decided at a meeting of the 18-member state council of the BDJS held at Kanichukulangara here on Wednesday.

Party president Thushar Vellappally told reporters that the meeting protested against the insult meted out to him by some BJP leaders of Kozhikode, who had spread false news about his Rajya Sabha candidature.

“Their political game hurt us and we have asked the central BJP leadership to take action against them,'' he said.

The BJP has not fulfilled its promise of giving the BDJS posts in central corporations and boards. “The BDJS had helped in increasing the BJP’s vote percentage in the last elections,'' he said.

When asked whether the BDJS would join any other front, he said it was still with the NDA.

Mr Thushar, who is also the convener of NDA in Kerala, said that NDA allies were disappointed with the BJP state leadership. “The NDA is an utter failure now. There are no district, taluk and local- level committees for the NDA,” he said.
