Big sweep by ruling YSRC in GP polls II phase, claims minister Botsa Satyanarayana

Despite the TD undertaking a false propaganda, it 'failed to get significant support,' adds the Minister

Vijayawada: Minister for municipal administration Botsa Satyanarayana has stated that the ruling YSR Congress supporters won 2,639 gram panchayats out of the total 3,328 in the second phase of the polls. The Telugu Desam won just 536 while the BJP and the JSP got only six and 36 respectively, he said here on Sunday.

The minister said the TD suffered humiliation with its dismal performance even in its traditional strongholds in both phase-1 and 2. Despite the TD undertaking a false propaganda, it “failed to get significant support.”

“The results showed that the voters had no love lost for TD chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh. The TD has lost its relevance. Several of its senior leaders lost in both the phases for the polls,” he said and hoped that the same trend would continue for the remaining two more phases of the GP polls.

The minister listed out the GPs where the TD senior leaders and their loyalists suffered a drubbing vis-à-vis humiliation for the party in their respective assembly constituencies.

In the Narsipatnam segment of Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, TD got 26 out of the 101 gram panchayats while the YSRC got 73, in the phase-2 polls.

In Ichapuram represented by TD MLA B Asho, TD got 11 out of the 98 GPs while the YSRC got 73. In Uravakonda segment of TD MLA P Kesha, TD got four while YSRC secured 15 GPs .

In Raptadu of former TD minister Parimala Sunitha, TD got 12 while YSRC secured 45 GPs. In Janaganapalle of TD leader Benjamin Parthasarathi, TD got just 13 while YSR Congress won 88.

In Tekkali of TD president K Atchannaidu, TD won 23 while YSRC got 112 out of the total of 135 gram panchayats.

In Tuni of Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, TD won only in three GPs while YSRC got 54 out of a total of 58 panchayats, the minister said.
