Bengaluru: Opposition Lotus wilts but BJP blooms on MLA attack
Bengaluru: Has the coalition, in particular JD (S), handed over a golden opportunity to the BJP after gaining mileage through an expose on 'Operation Kamala'?
For, BJP leaders are set to make the most of the attack on BJP legislator Preetham Gowda's residence and his supporters in Hassan, portraying it as a classic example of collapse of law and order, and embarrass the coalition in the run up to forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. On Thursday, these leaders not only dropped adequate hints of how they propose to derive political mileage out of the attack on Mr Gowda's residence but also charged that Chief Minister H D Kumara swamy had instigated his party workers to launch the assault.
In the Legislative Assembly, the budget was adopted amid the din as BJP MLAs continued their protest over the attack on Mr Preetham Gowda residence, raising slogans "down down goonda government", "down to the government that attacks MLA's house".
Leader of Opposition, B S Yeddyurappa, while pointing out that a memorandum was submitted to Governor Vajubhai Vala on the attack, told the media: "Please give protection to Gowda (Preetham). Anything may happen to him. The Chief Minister was behind it as he not able to digest a young leader's growth in Hassan. We demand a comprehensive inquiry (into the attack)."
