The JD(S) leader, for his part, said merely winning elections without helping the needy meant nothing.

After patiently hearing the problems of the drivers present he said only regional parties could help solve them. “If the JD)S) is voted to power, the administration will not be from Delhi, but from Bengaluru . Besides, I will not allow senior bureaucrats to run the government machinery at their whim and fancy. Instead I will demand district wise reports," he added.

Mr Kumaraswamy said that the administration should be aimed at empowering the working class and policies should be promulgated accordingly. "In reality, no one understands the problems of the working class. The two national parties are only interested in capturing power," he contended.
