Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asserted that the ruling Congress party will win in the by-elections held in three Assembly constituencies on Saturday.

“The post-poll survey favours the Congress, we are leading” said Mr Siddaramaiah while talking to reporters. He has taken up a four-day tour in his home district to campaign for the second phase of the ZP/TP elections and campaigned in Periyapatna and KR Nagar taluks on Sunday.

People should vote for the Congress considering the pro-poor welfare programmes of the government. “Winning the ZP/TP elections is important to implement our welfare programmes effectively,” he said.

Mr Siddaramaiah also took up road shows in Hosur, Chunchankatte, Kesthurkoplu, Habbalu, Hosaagrahara and Bherya in KR Nagar taluk.

At Hosur, he told people not to vote for rebel candidates and asked them to elect only the official candidates of the party. Meanwhile, more than 100 supporters of Shivananjegowda, an aspirant for the taluk panchayat polls from Varkodu constituency in Mysore taluk, gheroed the Chief Minister at his house in Sharadadevinagar Sunday morning, for not giving him the B form.

They said he was a sincere party worker following which the CM said he would look into their demand.
