TRS denies it's joining the NDA
Hyderabad: Denying reports that TRS will formally join the NDA soon, Telangana State Special Representative in Delhi and former Union minister S. Venugopalachary on Sunday said that the TRS would continue its neutral stand and offer only issue-based support to the Centre.
Speaking to the media in Delhi on Sunday, Mr Venugopalachary said, “We will continue to maintain our cordial relations with the Centre, we are not for confrontations with it. We only seek justice to newly-formed Telangana state from the Centre. Our support to the NDA government is issue-based, we will continue with that stand. There is no blanket support.”
He said that the TRS will not hesitate to stand up to the Centre whenever injustice is meted out to TS. “There is no compromise on Telangana interests, we are ready to fight the Centre if we feel injustice is being done to our state,” Mr Venugopalachary said.
He said that the response of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union ministers whom TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao met during his visit to Delhi, was quite satisfactory.
“We only hope that the Centre will fulfil its commitments to Telangana state, including implementing the various provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act.”
