Many young professionals try their luck with politics in Adilabad

He said he was ready to contest from any other general constituency as a Congress candidate if the party agreed to field him.

ADILABAD: Many young professionals including doctors and software specialists are venturing into politics to contest in the next elections in the old Adilabad district.

Interestingly, some of these professionals are planning to contest as independents to tell the people that they were independent in their thought and not under the influence of any political party. Many young doctors have intensified their political activities along with social service much before their political opponents, readying for the next elections

Some of them are following the footsteps of their parents in choosing politics along with their medical profession and carrying forward the family legacy.

Four doctors have made up their mind to contest in 2019 and intensified their activities in Adilabad, Sirpur (T), Nirmal and Mancherial Assembly Constituencies in the old Adilabad district.

Dr Palvai Harish Babu of Kagaznagar has gone to the extent of declaring his vision as ‘Rebbena Declaration’ for public discussion from his native village Rebbena in Bejjur mandal in Kumarambheem Asifabad district.

Dr Harish Babu is the son of the then Sirpur legislator Palvai Purushotham Rao who was killed by Maoists in his office in Kagaznagar town in 1999. His mother, Ms Palvai Rajyalakshmi, became an MLA subsequently.

Dr Kottapalli Srinivas of Kagaznagar town who regularly organises some activities and engages in community programmes, has recently joined the BJP and is preparing the ground to contest in the elections from Sirpur (T).

Dr K. Ravi Kiran of Adilabad is making all-out efforts to mobilise his community in particular and people in general as part of preparing the ground.

Dr Ravikiran has produced two films in Telugu. In recent years he has built a good network in the Telugu film industry. Dr Swarna Reddy of Nirmal is also planning to contest in the next elections and she has been taking up some social programmes in Nirmal constituency.

Speaking to this newspaper, Dr Harish Babu said, “I’m more comfortable being independent like my father” and added that locals still remember his services even 18 years after his assassination.

He said the development will take place naturally even without an affiliation with any political party if the leader is committed to the development and welfare of the people.

Software engineer Thula Arun Kumar of Boath is also planning to enter the politics like his father, the then PCC secretary Thula Subhash who was killed by Maoists in 2001. But the Boath constituency from he where hails is reserved for the ST community.

He said he was ready to contest from any other general constituency as a Congress candidate if the party agreed to field him.
