Note ban helped black money hoarders: CPM

Mr Yechury questioned how some people were able to get crores of new currency notes.

Vijayawada: CPM national secretary Sitaram Yechury has criticised the Union government’s decision on demonetisation that it is not curbing the black money but instead totally converted into white.

He also said the situation post demonetisation is like Emergency, which is like Indira Gandhi’s Emergency. He also demanded for legal payment in old currency if the government fails to arrange the required new currency notes before December 30.

He inaugurated Makineni Basavapunnaiah Vignana Kendram bhavan and hosted as chief guest for the inauguration of Chukkapalli Pitchaiah Auditorium and Gadipati Koteswara Rao Library here on Tuesday.

Speaking to the media. Mr Yechury questioned how some people were able to get crores of new currency notes. He also criticised the Union government, saying it completely failed in its demonetisation process.

He said with demonetisation, the country’s GDP is going to fall by 3 per cent as per international e-commerce companies.

He also mentioned that till now 111 people had died near ATMs due to the non-availability of cash at banks and ATMs.

He also said post bifurcation, both Telangana state and Andhra Pradesh people hopes had gone in vain. He said instead of the number of scams falling down, it has increased more. He said they were ready to fight against the governments to support public with the help of opposition parties.
