Poachgate accused denied bail by special court

HYDERABAD: A special court on Monday dismissed the bail petitions of the three accused for allegedly attempting to poach three TRS MLAs in the case filed by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB).

The Banjara Hills police, meanwhile, sought a transit warrant to take custody of one of the accused, Ramachandra Bharathi, over a case filed against him. The court adjourned a decision on the petition to Tuesday.

Additionally, two cases have been registered against another accused, Kore Nanda Kumar alias Nandu, for allegedly cheating two persons of Rs 1.35 crore.

Previously, the Cyberabad Police arrested the three accused — Bharathi, Nandu and Simhayaji — from a farmhouse in Moinabad of Banjara Hills, following which the police also booked Bharathi for forgery, as a fake Aadhaar card was recovered from him.

During the court hearing, it was contended that the accused might tamper with evidence or influence witnesses, if granted bail.

Sources said that Nandu is accused of cheating two businessmen, of Rs 70 lakh and Rs 65 lakh, under the pretext of leasing them a place in Film Nagar. A case was filed on complaints lodged by the victims.

The police also started an inquiry into allegations by Nandu’s family that the GHMC demolished their properties, going against orders of the High Court.
