Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS), a part of the Sangh Parivar, demanded that the Centre restore with necessary amendments the farm laws that were withdrawn in November last year ahead of the Punjab elections.
The BKS made the demand on Sunday at a rally at Parade Ground, featuring a large number of farmers in Telangana. Speaking at the meeting, BKS Telangana general secretary Madireddy Raji Reddy accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of adopting 'double standards' on the farm laws.
"KCR praised the farm laws initially. He then took a U-turn and opposed them for his selfish political interests. There is a need to bring back farm laws to ensure remunerative prices to farmers for every crop and to enable them to sell their produce anywhere in the country," Raji Reddy said.
He stated that BKS had adopted a resolution demanding the abolition of fee at every market yard and protection of farmers' interest in contractual farming.
BKS leaders came down heavily on the TRS government for failing to implement the Rs 1 lakh crop loan waiver scheme promised during the 2018 Assembly poll campaign even after four years. They also slammed the state government for failing to arrange for kharif paddy procurement and for allowing rice millers and private traders to purchase paddy for price below MSP and looting farmers.
