Porngate: Will abide by Siddaramaiah's decision, says Tanveer Sait

D.K. Shivakumar claimed there was no truth in the media claims that Mr Sait watched porn clippings.

Bengaluru: Primary and secondary education minister, Tanveer Sait on Sunday declared that he would abide by any decision taken by Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah after he was accused of watching porn on his cellphone during a Tipu Jayanti function.

Speaking to reporters after his closed door meeting with the CM here, Mr Sait said, “I did not commit this mistake deliberately. I just received a message from an unknown number and scrolled through it but not with the intention of watching it. Therefore, I am clean and my conscience is clear on this issue.”

In response to a question, the minister asserted that he had been a loyal Congressman and would remain so. “Whatever CM Siddaramaiah decides, I will abide by it,” he said.

Responding to a question, the minister declared that the case which he had filed with the police against a particular Kannada news channel was not meant to be vindictive. “I have never been against the media. All through, I have earned good friends in the media cutting across language barriers. The main intention of the case is to source the original clipping from the news channel. The truth is hidden in this original clipping. I strongly feel the truth can only come out if the entire clipping is viewed instead of what channels have shown which are ’edited’ and have tarnished my image in public,” he asserted

While defending Mr Sait, energy minister D.K. Shivakumar claimed there was no truth in the media claims that Mr Sait watched porn clippings. “It looks farcical when BJP and JD(S) leaders protest against Mr Sait. What moral right does the BJP have to protest against Mr Sait?,” he wondered. When the BJP was in power in the state, three ministers were caught watching porn during a session and were forced to resign.
