Police Seize a Total Rs 74.95 crore Till October 13

Hyderabad: Police on Saturday seized Rs 32.81 crore of cash that was not accounted for, the Election Commission of India (ECI) said, taking the total cash found without documents to nearly Rs 75 crore.

The state law enforcement agencies including the income-tax department have seized Rs 74.95 crore in the state since the model code of conduct (MCC) came into force with the Election Commission of India (ECI) declaring the Assembly polls date on October 9.

The ECI on Saturday said that the I-T officials had seized Rs 15.51 crore. The police and other agencies had seized Rs 6.34 crore on October 13

The officials said that the law enforcement agencies including excise department staff seized Rs 1.34 lakh litres of liquor and ganja worth Rs 4.72 crore. So far, the officials have seized 37.4 kg of gold and 365 kg of silver, 42.2 carats or diamonds worth Rs 17.5 crore.

The police also seized 3,900 kg of rice, 187 saris, a mobile phone, a car worth Rs 6.68 lakh on October 13. Cumulatively, the agencies have seized 80 sewing machines, 43.7 tonnes of rice, 87 cookers, 627 saris, two cars, 59 clocks, 55 helmets, a mobile phone and 589 other items worth Rs 1.9 crore.
