KCR set to release BRS manifesto, hand over B forms to candidates today

Hyderabad: BRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will release the much-awaited party manifesto for the November 30 Assembly elections on Sunday and also hand over B Forms, the document that makes their nomination official, to party candidates.

By releasing its manifesto, the BRS will become the first political party in Telangana to do so, notching up another first for the coming Assembly elections after having released its list of 115 candidates on August 21. The Congress, which is expected to release its first list of candidates on Sunday, and the BJP are learned to be still some distance from releasing their manifestos and finalising candidates.

Rao will release the manifesto and hand over the forms to the candidates in a meeting at Telangana Bhavan, following which he will also address them and provide pointers for the campaign.

Party sources said that Rao is also likely to name candidates for at least two of the five constituencies — Jangaon, Nampally, Goshamahal, Narsapur, and Malkajgiri — which the party had kept pending. While Marri Rajasekhar Reddy is believed to be the frontrunner for the Malkajgiri seat after Mynampally Hanumantha Rao left the BRS for the Congress.

There is trepidation among a few candidates whose names were announced that there could be last-minute changes due to opposition from party cadres. The Chief Minister too, when he released the names, had left the option open for last-minute changes, although party sources said even that changes, if any, would be few.
