Even new voters' list faulty, says Congress

Mr Reddy objected to the idea of releasing the voters' list at midnight.

Hyderabad: Former minister and TPCC election commission coordination committee chairman Marri Sashidhar Reddy on Saturday alleged that the election commission misled the High Court by submitting faulty voters’ lists.

He said that the party had evidence to prove that the voters’ list had a lot of mistakes. He said that the Election Commission had received 30 lakh applications from across the state to register new voters, but in the list, there were only 22 lakh additional voters. Mr Reddy objected to the idea of releasing the voters’ list at midnight. He alleged that there were a lot of mistakes in the voters’ list announced by the EC and added all this was done at the behest of the TRS government.

He said that the officials were told to go house to house to register new voters, but it was not done. He questioned TRS Chief and caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on how proper it was to make mistakes in the voters’ list after saying that he would bring qualitative change by forming a federal front.

He urged the people who had not yet enrolled as voters to register their vote. He said that the Congress party would continue its struggle to do justice to voters and also think about what more could be done in this regard.
