Gedela Raju murder takes a political turn

Sources say that Gedela Raju, who was part of the real estate business, was recorded as a rowdy sheeter in 2007 and then again in 2012.

Visakhapatnam: The murder case of rowdy-sheeter K Satyanaraya Raju alias Gedela Raju has been going through several twists and turns. Now political intervention has crept into the proceedings, with some politicians trying to influence the cops to dilute the investigations to save a few accused in the case.

It may be recalled that Gedela Raju was murdered and his semi-burnt body was found near Devipuram area under Sabbavaram PS limits, a few days back. Sources said a DSP ranking police officer, a media house (Telugu evening Daily) owner Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Raju and a YSRC leader and real-estate businessman D. Subba Rao were involved in the murder and that the trio hired a supari gang and murdered the criminal, Gedela Raju.

A senior police officer on condition of anonymity said that the accused DSP-ranked police officer and Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Raju are still at large and they have sent special teams to Vijayawada and other cities to nab the suspected accused. Though the police are yet to ascertain the exact reasons behind the murder of Gedela Raju, they are suspecting that real-estate business and some other reasons might have been the cause of murder.

Sources say that Gedela Raju, who was part of the real estate business, was recorded as a rowdy sheeter in 2007 and then again in 2012.

Later he became a realtor. He was known to be a close associate of a police officer, who was allegedly involved in an extramarital relationship with a woman. Sources in the police say that there could be a blackmail angle to the murder.
