Telugu Desam blames K Chandrashekar Rao for loss due to fake seeds

Mr Revanth Reddy condemned the alleged negligence of the state government towards the farmers.

Warangal: State TD working president A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was responsible for farmers incurring losses due to the sale of spurious seeds. “It is KCR who is backing his relatives to supply fake seeds and is causing the problem,” he alleged. He was speaking at a dharna held at the Collector’s office on Thursday at the conclusion of a party rally.

TD district president Gandra Satyanarayana Rao said farmers who used Jeeva company’s 2205 and JCH-801 seeds, Pennaru’s Cyamson seeds, Lucky Anjani chilli seeds incurred huge loses. He demanded that Rs 40,000 per acre be given to the farmers as compensation.

Mr Revanth Reddy condemned the alleged negligence of the state government towards the farmers. He said while the farmers were distraught about the crop loss caused by heavy rains and fake seeds, the Chief Minister was saying that farmers were very happy.

“Just because his crop is yielding Rs 1 crore per acre, the Chief Minister believes that all the farmers are happy. Even after two-and-a-half years after coming to power, he still did not keep his promise of waiving farmer loans. How can the farmers be happy,” he asked.

Speaking about the spurious seeds, he alleged that when the agriculture officials tried to take action against the companies, they were asked to go on long leave.
TD state present L. Ramana took part in the dharna and said the party has taken up this dharna to remind Mr Rao about his promises to the farmers. “The TD demands that the CM waive the farmers’ loans at one go instead of in phases,” he demanded.

The leaders appealed to the collector Amrapali Kata asking for her intervention in the matter.
