Mr Chennithala said industries minister E. P. Jayarajan must quit at the earliest.

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader and senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala held talks with AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi, senior leader A.K. Antony and general secretary in-charge of the state, Mukul Wasnik about party revamp. Congress sources told DC that all the 14 DCC presidents are most likely to be appointed by November 5 and the leaders have already started intense lobbying.

Talking to reporters at Kerala House in New Delhi after meeting AICC leaders, Mr Chennithala said industries minister E. P. Jayarajan must quit at the earliest. Mr Chennithala said the people of Kerala would not tolerate the Left government if it tries to change his portfolio instead. Mr Chennithala said he was apprehensive of the probe against Mr Jayarajan while in office. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his cabinet colleagues, as well as LDF partners, have understood the harm done by Mr Jayarajan.

Taking a dig at the minister, Mr Chennithala said he the LDF was very much aware of the disgrace he brought to them within four months in office. If he did not step down, he said, Congress would intensify its agitation. He also sent memorandums to BJP national president Amit Shah and CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury to stop the political violence their parties unleashing in the state.
