Pawan Kalyan announces JS-TD alliance for AP polls, wishes BJP too joins

He said that the TD-JS alliance was not for strengthening of the political parties but for the future of Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada: In a major political development in Andhra Pradesh, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has affirmed his party’s alliance with the Telugu Desam in the upcoming polls in the state and hoped that the BJP too would join the alliance against the YSRC.

Addressing the media after meeting TD chief Chandrababu Naidu at the Central Prison in Rajahmundry on Thursday, Pawan Kalyan expressed concern over the way the former CM was implicated in the Skill Development Corporation scam, arrested and sent to judicial remand.

As he spoke, Pawan Kalyan was flanked by TD MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna and TD national general-secretary Nara Lokesh on either side.

He said, “I had hoped to forge an alliance with the TD. After seeing Chandrababu in the Central Prison, I made up my mind to have an alliance between the JS and TD to ensure a bright future for AP. This is not for the benefit of a few individuals. I have informed Chandrababu that I would be taking a key decision in AP politics. Accordingly, I am announcing our party’s alliance with TD and wish the BJP will also come along with us to dislodge the YSRC government from power. The people are fed up with it, there is no job creation, there is lawlessness and looting of AP’s natural resources.”

“Now, our task is to form a Joint Action Committee and call our respective party leaders to take their opinion on the JS-TD alliance. The prevailing situation warranted my party’s alliance with TD. It is for this reason that I am joined by Balakrishna and Lokesh here.

“I am going to inform the Governor, Prime Minister and Union home minister on the prevailing situation in AP and would seek their intervention,” the JS chief said.

“We are prepared to face elections if held now or after six months. The Jagan Mohan Reddy government has only six more months’ time. Once we are elected to power, we will take to task all those involved in illegal activities, be it mining of sand, minerals or running of belt shops.”

“I also ask the YSRC leaders to think of what happened to former CM Naidu as it would also happen to them tomorrow. I give six months’ time to the YSRC supporters involved in illegal activities to correct themselves. Otherwise, we will take them to task.”

“When I met Chandrababu in the jail, I felt very bad. He is in judicial remand. I enquired about his health and also asked the officials about the healthcare being provided to him. I have policy differences with Naidu on some issues, but I never undermined his political stature.”

Attributing credit to Naidu for developing the cyber city in Hyderabad where a large numbers of youths are getting jobs while income was being generated in crores, he wondered how Naidu could be implicated in the AP skill development scam and why the state government was showing an interest to inquire into it when the Enforcement Directorate should do the probe.

He also asked why the officials involved in the scam were not being probed and taken to task. He cautioned the chief secretary, DGP and other officials that they would also be implicated in cases in future.

Referring to the three-party alliance of JS-TD-BJP which came to power in the 2014 elections, he wished that the same would be repeated in the 2024 elections in AP.
