WARANGAL: TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy said on Wednesday that Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao is conspiring with the BJP to prevent the Congress party’s meetings in the state.
"Recognising the sacrifices of the Telangana martyrs and to review the problems of the new state, Sonia Gandhi who helped in its formation and the
entire Gandhi family would visit Telangana state soon," he said while speaking at a meeting of party workers in Hanamkonda.
Revanth Reddy said the people of Warangal played a key role in the separate Telangana movement. “On several occasions, KCR said it is because of Sonia Gandhi that the dream of separate Telangana state was fulfilled. But, when she is about to visit Telangana, KCR is joining hands with PM Modi and trying to create hurdles for the Congress party that has scheduled Sonia Gandhi’s meeting in the state.”
He said, “BJP state chief Kishan Reddy had announced that they would hold the Telangana Liberation Day celebrations on Sept 17 in Warangal. But, when
the Congress party decided to hold a meeting at the Parade grounds in Hyderabad, Kishan Reddy immediately shifted the venue of the BJP meet to Hyderabad.”
“When the Congress party asked the BRS government for clearance to hold a meeting at Gachibowli, the permission was denied citing silly reasons. The
government also denied permission for a meeting at Tukkuguda. But some farmers came forward and allotted 200 acres of land for the meeting, at which Sonia Gandhi and all important leaders of AICC would speak.”
Referring to IT minister KT Rama Rao’s recent comments against the Congress party, Revanth Reddy said, “When Sonia Gandhi announced a separate Telangana state, KTR was cleaning the bathrooms in America. It was KCR, his father, who met KV Ramachandra Rao secretly. On his directions, KCR appointed some officials in high positions in the Telangana state.”
He said, “It is KCR and his family members who mortgaged Telangana’s self-respect at the feet of the Andhra people. Even the construction works of the Telangana martyrs’ statue were also given to Andhra contractors.
Before the completion of the hundred days of its inauguration, the statue started collapsing.”
“Ask the then governor Narasimhan what was the role that I played in the separate Telangana movement. How will KTR know this as he was in America at that time,” he said.
Telangana is now a resource to father KCR and son KTR to amass wealth. Both the father and son are looting the Telangana people. They even removed the name of Telangana from the party’s name,” the TPCC chief said.
Meanwhile, former minister Konda Surekha has asked the TPCC chief to settle the issue of allotment of party tickets. She noted that a lot of leaders were announcing themselves as party candidates and creating confusion among the party cadre.
Earlier, Revanth Reddy extended his support to the students and members of KU-JAC who staged a dharna at the university premises demanding that the
state government probe the irregularities that took place in the Ph.D admissions.
“By appointing an outsider as registrar of the university and torturing the students by using third degree methods, the university vice-chancellor is acting as an agent of the BRS government and his boss Palla Rajeswar. The government must remove the VC and registrar from their posts, he said.
