Uttam Kumar Reddy invites intellectuals

The TPCC chief demanded that BCs be granted 50 per cent reservations in the municipal elections.

Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has called upon intellectuals to join the Congress and save Telangana society. He said no one expected Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s government in the state would fail in solving the problems of the people.

Addressing a meeting held to welcome retired police inspector Dasari Bhumayya of Karimnagar district into the Congress fold on Friday, Mr Reddy charged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was following vindictive politics and destroying the very political system at the national level. Within the state, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao failed in implementing his poll promises, the TPCC chief said. The TRS government has gone on to cut the annual Budget by Rs 36,000 crore when compared to the vote-on-account Budget that it had presented earlier, he pointed out.

The TPCC chief demanded that BCs be granted 50 per cent reservations in the municipal elections. He asserted that the Congress will give 50 per cent of seats to BCs for contesting the municipal polls.

Mr Reddy said the Congress will unfurl the National Flag at all the district headquarters on Telangana Liberation Day. On the same day, the TPCC executive committee will meet to discuss launching of a membership drive and the current political situation within the state.

He said training camps will be conducted for party workers for celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in a grand manner on October 2.
